Frequently Asked Questions

What is myoActivation?

Read all about it HERE.

Is this the same as dry needling?

Nope! myoActivation is very different from simple dry needling of trigger points because it uses a structured assessment to target the muscles, fascia, scars, tensions lines and trigger points that are key to the pain pattern. It’s important to know that the true origin of pain is often very different from where you feel the pain - for example low back pain is often coming from the abdominal muscles rather than those in the back, and knee pain can be traced to the quadriceps.

Will it hurt?

Well, listen… pain is subjective! It’s possible that you’ll find any kind of needling treatment uncomfortable. That said, we work hard to make the process as comfortable and reassuring as possible. Most people are pleasantly surprised to find that the reality of myoActivation is much less scary than they were imagining! If you’re interested but nervous, come in. I’ll assess you and give you a small initial treatment so you can see how you feel and how you respond. We’ll work with your pain tolerance levels and at a pace that feels comfortable to you.

How many treatments will I need?

Typically, 2-4 treatments are needed to reduce pain and improve mobility.

What should I wear to treatment?
